Roshan Afghan Premier League final draws 7.6 million viewers

Kabul, 13 November, 2013 – According to ATR-Consulting, the October 11th Championship Final of the Roshan Afghan Premier League between Shaheen Asmayee and Simorgh Alborz attracted almost 8 million Afghan viewers, confirming the league's ever-growing popularity.
The ATR phone-survey conducted between October 12th and 16th reached 592 people and revealed that the RAPL's appeal spans gender and age groups.
• 59.9% of the men and 57.7% of the women interviewed watched the match
• 41.4% of respondents who watched the match were 30 and under, while 35% were 30 and up.
The final match also drew record audiences online, with 100,000 people engaged over the course of the season and 1.8 million people reached on Facebook. YouTube views surpassed 200,000, amounting to 1.6 million minutes of RAPL content watched online.
Commenting on the success of the League. RAPL Commissioner Shafic Gawarinoted, "The popularity of the RAPL has continued to grow. The RAPL is one of the causes of the "football frenzy" that has gripped Afghanistan. Through football, the RAPL is proud to promote peaceful coexistence and to provide a bright future for Afghanistan's youth."

About the Roshan Afghan Premier League (RAPL)
The second season of Afghanistan's first and only professional football league commenced on August 22nd. The eight teams comprising the RAPL; Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif, Herat, Badakhshan, Kandahar, Jalalabad, Khost, and Panshjir, will play a series of 18 matches which will culminate in a final championship match on October 11th. All matches will take place in Kabul's newly renovated AFF Stadium. The league is fully supported by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation. All playing rules and regulations are in accordance with those set forth by FIFA and the AFC.
